Homeostasis is one of the most important process of human organism. The correct grow and functioning of many organs depend on life and death of the cells. Apoptosis is physiological programmed cell death. Itís regulated by extra- and intracellular factors. Variety of biological molecules take place in the apoptosis and thatis why this process seems to be very complex. Finallyall these processes lead to the death of cell. Also the hepatocytes commit a suicide. Activation of this complex process is effected by many factors in-cluding most important one, currently well-examined, based on TNF-a/TNFR1 and Fas/FasL. In apoptosis the cells of inflamation play not a trifling role coexisting in liver pathology. The index of apoptosis is gre-ater or smaller in some liver diseases. Some selected position of literature on apoptosis of hepatocytes are reviewed.
