Backround: Modalities described for the treatment of syringoma have been associated with risk of scarring or recurrences. Aim of study: Results of cryosurgery were compared with laser CO2 therapy in group of 9 women. Methods: The CO2 laser was used in defocused mode (layer-by-layer technique) with a power setting of 3 to 5 W. The liquid nitrogen cryoprobe procedure consisted of two freeze/thaw cycles. Results: Laser CO2 therapy gives complete removal of even multiple periorbital lesions of syringoma after 1-2 sessions. After laser therapy of eruptive form hypopigmentations were more visible than after freezing. Cryosurgery of raised tumours, even several times, offers better cosmetic results. Conclusions: It seems that combination of these two modalities can solve therapeutic problem for both forms of syringoma.
