In July 2008 the American Academy of Pediatrics released new recommendations for the management of hypercholesterolemia in children. The new guidelines elicited a lot of controversies. This report included much broader, than in previous recommendations, indications for screening and pharmacologic intervention in the treatment of dyslipidemia in children.
