Purpose:The aim of the study was the determination of antifungal activity of new of benzimidazoles against Candida albicans and non-Candida albicans strains.
Material and methods:The determination of antifungal activity of benzimidazoles against 38 of Candidaalbicans and 18 non-Candida albicans strains was performed.
Benzimidazoles were synthesized in the Department of Chemistry University of Agriculture in Lublin.
Results:The mean MIC of benzimidazoles against Candidaalbicans strains was 138.39±37.5 mg/l (65.6-200 mg/l) on Sabouraud's medium.The mean MIC of benzimidazoles against non- Candidaalbicans strains was1 34.12±33.25 mg/l (50-200 mg/l).
Conclusion: It seems that benzimidazoles exert potent antifungal activity against the yeast-likefungi strains in vitro.
