Nutritional therapy in patients with acute pancreatitis may be controversial. The aim of this paper was to propose recent review of literature with special interest in parenteral and enteral nutrition.
According to this analysis early introduction of the enteral nutrition may be beneficial for the repairing processes and diminishing katabolic processes and also decreased the riskof septic complications.
Severe pancreatitis has to be treated in aggressive way with early enteral nutritional support, fluid replacement and total parenteral nutrition when
patient is in tolerant to enteral feeding or in presence of side effects.
The aim of nutritional treatment in acute pancreatitis is to give ivfluids, decrease systemic inflammatory response with presentation of jejunal wall
integrity, and to limit katabolic processes with lean body mass wasting.
