Postinfarction cardiac insufficiency is an important epidemiological problem. Current medical treatment, al-though efficient in preventing ventricular remodeling, is not able to restore the function of necrotic myocar-dium. Recent experimental and first clinical research data prove the improvement of myocardial function after autologus myoblast or bonę marrow stem cell transplantation. Both cell populations injected into myocardium differentiate to the cardiomyocytes and take over their function.
