The aim of this paper was to show the significance of potassium serum level and its supplementation in patients treated for cardiovascular disease, particularly congestive heart failure and hypertension. Angioten-sin converting enzyme inhibitors and diuretics may induce significant changes in potassium level, and even patients treated with "potassium saving" diuretics may require the correction of electrolyte changes by potassium supplements.
